Health services in Bahrain are free for all citizens, and within the reach of all. Services are at a high standard.
Education in Bahrain is not compulsory, but is free — and easily accessible — to the citizens, and therefore well attended. The University of Bahrain, is located at Manama.
A new university opened in 1998, the Arabian Gulf University, and seeks to become a centre of learning for the gulf states. It will be completed in 2006.
