Dumuzi

In Mesopotamian religions, god of fertility in nature. He is also known as Tammuz. There is confusing information among scholars on when the name Dumuzi, or Dumuzid, was used, but most agree that Dumuzi is the oldest form, used in Sumerian religion, and that the name changed slightly into Tammuz with Akkadian religion. Dumuzi was a god of pastoral qualities, this developed over time into agricultural, which represents a small change only.
Dumuzi variations
There were several variations for this deeply loved god, local variations combined Dumuzi with local cults, or specialized Dumuzi's qualities.
