Dynasty of Ancient Egypt 404-399 BCE, 5 years, consisting of only 1 king, belonging to the Late Period.
There is very little known about this short period. Following the death of Persian king, Darius 2, Amyrtaeus began a rebellion against the Persians and succeeded in topping the Persian governing institutions. He was a descendant of the Saite kings of the 26th Dynasty.
No monuments have been identified from this period, but it appears that Amyrtaeus' reign brought economic progress. But his control of Egypt was only partial, and although he had himself recognized as ruler by local chiefs of Upper Egypt in 401, other chiefs challenged his position. One of these, Nepherites 1, would after a long warfare succeed in defeating Amyrtaeus in his 5th year as king, forming the 29th Dynasty.
