Universities

Kuwait presently has 5 universities, corresponding to a university density of 1:550,000 inhabitants, placing Kuwait as no. 8 of 22 in the MENA region.
Only Kuwait University is run by the government, but it is not "public" in the common sense, as it only permits Kuwaiti citizens and Bidoon (who have origins prior to 1960). More than 60% of all students attend the Kuwait University; the largest private institution is the Arab Open University, which had 6,300 students in 2005.
All universities are located to the larger Kuwait City area.
Only one university make it to the World Top 6000 list at Webometrics; the University of Kuwait is ranked no. 2134 in the world. In this respect, Kuwait is with 20% of its universities on this list, ranked 11 of 22 in MENA.
