Sakarya river

River of north-western Turkey, 824 km long, emptying into the Black Sea.
Its source is Bayat Plateau, northeast of Afyon. Among its tributaries, the Porsuk Cayi is the most important.
The one major city along the river is Adapazari, with 280,000 inhabitants.
In ancient times it formed the central regions of Phrygia.
