Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa

(1894-1961) Ruler of Bahrain 1942-1961, 19 years. His title was hakim.
During World War 2, he allowed the UK to use Bahraini docks and other facilities, a priviledge into which soon also the USA was included. His close alliance with Western powers was severed by the British involvement in the Suez-Sinai War.

Biography
1894 October 10: Born in Manama as grandson of the ruler of Bahrain, Isa 1. His father, Hamad 1, became ruler 1932.
1942 February 20: Following the death of his father, he becomes new hakim.
1961 November 2: Dies and is succeeded by his son, Isa 2.
