In Ancient Egyptian religion, goddess considered mistress of war and diseases, usually represented with the head of a lion.
She was closely connected to the other feline goddess, Bastet, but her character was benevolent. In Memphis, she formed the divine triad together with Ptah and Nefertem.
Sekhmet is noted for being represented with about 200 statues in another deity's temple (Mut) in Luxor, Egypt.
