Gulf of Suez
Arabic: khalīju s-suways


Gulf that is an arm of the Red Sea, touching Egypt, running between the mainland and the Sinai peninsula.
The length is 290 km, while the width varies between 24 and 56 km. The depth never exceeds 200 metres.
The only sizeable city near the gulf is Suez, from which the gulf has received its name.
