Ancient Egypt / Old Kingdom / 6th Dynasty /
Userkare

King of Ancient Egypt, 2nd ruler of the 6th Dynasty, ruling 2323-2321 BCE, 2 years.
Userkare took the throne by force, and it has been suggested that he was one of the original heirs from the 5th Dynasty, and a long time rival to Teti, the preceding king. According to Manetho, Teti was killed by his bodyguards, an act possible staged by Userkare. His reign would be short, 2 or 4 years, as Pepi 1, son of Teti, had Userkare removed from power.
From Userkare's reign there are few items, and no pyramid complex. But it appears that he started a number of large building projects.
He was preceded by Teti and succeeded by Pepi 1.
