Yazid 2
Arabic: yazīd bni cabdi l-malīk


(687-724) Caliph of Sunni Islam 720-724, as part of the Umayyad Dynasty.
Yazid's reign was dominated by internal conflicts, mainly in Spain, North Africa and in India. The methods used to crush rebellions were often were severe, making the Umayyad rule unpopular. This gave room for the Abbasids to gain power in Mesopotamia and other places.

Biography
687: Is born as son of Caliph Abd al-Malik.
720: With the death of Umar 2, Yazid becomes new caliph.
724: Dies from tuberculosis, and is succeeded by his brother Hisham.
