LUXOR
Temple of Hatshepsut. Exterior details

Luxor, Egypt

Luxor, Egypt

Luxor, Egypt

The extreme simplicity of Hatshepsut's temple make the details more important and more visible. The top photo shows Queen Hatshepsut represented as a male ruler, in the shape of the god, Osiris.
The third photo shows the one near-complete Horus falcon statue standing in front of the ramp leading from the 2nd Terrace to the 3rd Terrace.
The last picture is from the Hathor chapel on the left hand side of the main temple. There are as many as 12 columns, each of them adorned with the face of the goddess. This chapel is also the one single place here where a complete, untouched image of Hatshepsut can be seen. Otherwise, images of Hatshepsut were removed by her son, Tuthmosis 3.
