LUXOR:
Tombs of the Nobles. Rekhmire

Luxor, Egypt: Tombs of the Nobles

The tomb of Rekhmire is richly decorated, and is also an interesting historical document. As Rekhmire was vizier, this tomb tells us much about the foreign policy during the reigns of Tuthmosis 3 and Amenophis 2.
We can see images of the process of collecting taxes inside Egypt, of the building of temples, the inspection of agriculture. All with Rekhmire in the leading part. In the long corridor we can see interesting images from everyday life of ancient Egypt. Deep in this corridor, the imagery shifts in direction of issues on the afterlife. There are images from the afterworld, as well as from Rekhmire's funerary procession and offerings given to secure his success in the afterlife.
