RACHID:
Old fort of highwaymen

Rachid

Rachid

Rachid

The village of Rachid is strongly competing with Tidjikja in respect of beauty, being a citadel overlooking a wadi. The citadel was used for pillage of caravans passing through this way between Adrar and Tidjikja. To Rachid there is also a lusciuous palmeraie, and the date harvest of July/August is considered one of the most fascinating times of the year to visit. Rachid also has a good collection of rock engravings.

Eat and Sleep
Nothing. Settle for camping outdoors, and bring your own provisions.

Transportation
Your own transport, while there might be a chance of getting a lift from Tidjikja, but this can often involve days of waiting.
