DAKHLA:
Deep South

With a reputation that often is summed up in guide books' "if you should be stranded here"- approaches, Dakhla is a great surprise. The town, which has grown tremendously, and should now count more than 30,000 inhabitants, is finding its own style.
White houses, unsystematic arrangement of streets, a reserved approach to the sea, and lots of colourful Sahrawi women are the images that you will remember.
Dakhla of white colours and the dramatic presence of the Atlantic
As always down here in Western Sahara, people are very friendly, and in a way where they always make sure that you, the visitor, is treated like the welcomed guest.
Excursions from Dakhla are few, but a trip out to the old Spanish light house, or down along the shores towards the tip of the peninsula, along with long walks around the many crowded streets, should be enough to fill a couple of days stay in Dakhla.
