The Tabiya brotherhood, a Sufi related sect, built their zawiyya in in the first half of the 18th century. The building is noted for its unusual octagonal minaret. Entry is not permitted for non-Muslims.
Cults connected to the brotherhood and its zawiyya are no longer as prominent as in older days. Its popularity had a blow because of its leader's connection with the French during the colonial period. Still the festival, or moussem, takes place every spring.
