People arriving in Casablanca are either arriving by air, or they are sailors, stopping a day or two in Casablanca's busy port. Casablanca is ideal for exploring Morocco, both the south and the north are within hand. Casablanca is one of the busiest air ports of Northern Africa, and it works quite well. In most cases formalities and baggage claim runs smoothly, but once in a while, the total process can take a couple of hours.
It appears to be little to worry about for people arriving through Casablanca. Bribing and hustling are uncommon, though import of special items, could bring you into a judicial void, and bribing could be the fastest way around the practicalities.
Far to few people stop in Casablanca. More should do that. After exploring the colourful and traditional Morocco, Casablanca is compulsory for everyone wanting to understand the whole Morocco. Casablanca is a swift, functional, clean, and attractive city. But do beware, at the end of every street, poverty starts. Extreme poverty.
People going up the coast, a wise thing in summer, will first come to the Moroccan capital, Rabat, or a town packed with Moroccan holidayers, Mohammedia. When you go south, you find another tourist resort full of Moroccan families, El-Jadida, while the magical Marrakech is just 3- 4 hours south of Casablanca.
