Beja is a sizeable city of one of the greener regions in Tunisia. The mountains here are some of the most beautiful, with broken hills covered with trees, and grain growing farms, as well as an occasional vineyard. Beja itself is important for its market, and its main assets are the kasbah, and a quarter where cave dwellings are still in use. Just south of Beja, a little bit more than 10 km, a Roman bridge, called Pont de Trajan, in excellent condition is found, with a span of 70 metres.
