ZAGHOUAN
Triumphal arch
Zaghouan, Tunisia

Zaghouan, Tunisia

Zaghouan, Tunisia

Zaghouan's triumphal arch is set right in the middle of the modern town, and has a staircase running through it.
The arch dates from the 2nd century CE, and was a part of the then Roman town of Ziqua.
The trees around the arch has grown considerably over recent years, and from down below you will see quite little of it. The arch is noted for its bull's head on its keystone (second photo).
At the end of the staircase there is a cafe and a market every day (lowest photo).
