The 4th century BCE Nereid Monument was an Ionic temple that rested on a high from the ground in the southeastern corner of Xanthos.
Much of Xanthos' treasures are today in the British Musuem, London, UK, having been removed in 1842. The process of dismantling took a full 2 months.
